The keys to transfer station designs are site layouts and waste delivery arrangements which allow for moving the traffic through efficiently during peak Saturday hours, and waste storage and compaction capability which allow vehicles to be loaded quickly and to the maximum extent within applicable road limits to minimize costs.
Recycling facilities are complex in terms of design. There are numerous different materials being delivered, stored, processed, stored, and shipped in various different ways, and as soon as the facility begins operating, many of those things change, and keep changing over time. Facility flexibility in terms of delivery, storage, processing, and shipping is a key criterion.
