CMA Engineers was honored to be part of the project team recognized by Plan NH with a Merit Award of Excellence for the Madbury Road Complete Streets Project in Durham, New Hampshire.
The project, led by the Town of Durham with VHB, CMA Engineers, and G.W. Brooks and Son, Inc., transformed a major corridor between Main Street and NH Route 4 into a safer, more accessible, and more welcoming route for pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, students, residents, and local businesses. The completed improvements enhanced pedestrian access, improved traffic control, strengthened neighborhood connections to downtown Durham, and supported more equitable transportation choices.
CMA Engineers provided the design of the project’s utilities and drainage improvements, including stormwater infrastructure and BMPs, sanitary sewer replacement and realignment, and drinking water system upgrades. CMA Engineers also provided construction administration services for the full project, supporting coordination throughout the phased construction effort. The $15 million project reconstructed approximately 7,000 linear feet of Madbury Road and required careful integration of roadway, utility, drainage, and streetscape elements.
The Plan NH jury noted the project’s benefits to pedestrian access, local businesses, accessibility, walking and biking safety, economic vitality, and transportation choice. CMA Engineers is proud to have contributed to this important community project and congratulates the Town of Durham, VHB, G.W. Brooks and Son, Inc., and the full project team on this recognition.
